What do we do at the Innovation Labs?
Student Data Labs run data-driven innovation labs for university students. The Labs provide a place for all, regardless of academic or social background, to learn about practical data science skills and collaborate on real-world data projects with a social purpose. Here at Student Data Labs we offer the opportunity to work with experts and network with organisations that operate in the world-class open data community in Yorkshire.
The events are for all university students interested in data science and how it can be used to both improve your employment prospects and tackle social problems. If you have an interest in journalism, programming, social research, design, computer science, mapping or research then Student Data Labs is the right place for you. Student Data Labs is truly multi-disciplinary and encourages students from all backgrounds to get involved.
How do I get involved?
We are holding a Vision Zero Innovation Lab on April 27th at the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics. The aim of the Vision Zero Lab is to explore ways to bring the number of fatalities on the road to zero. We’ll be learning practical data skills whilst tackling road traffic casualties. Come along and learn practical data science skills whilst working on projects that address health problems.
